The creation of a new Cre transgenic mouse line database was a necessity because the number of Cre lines has reached the hundreds and is still rapidly increasing.

There is still a lot to do before before we reach completion of this database, if ever possible. The concept in the new version is challenging since the description of the expression/excision pattern of a given Cre line has to be in one hand standardized and in the other hand flexible to accommodate unique features. In addition, it has to be dynamic which could accommodate new information gathered by the users of the Cre line. Therefore, the completeness and the usefulness of the database will be dependant on the nature of interaction between the users. We encourage not only the submission of the lines by the makers, but also the submission of additional information by the users. Your experiences will be a tremendous value for the others.
